1. Rotary Ash coolertop ↑

The rotary ash cooler is invented by Chinese (Created in China). SONGLING has a number of patented technologies in Rotary ash cooler.

SONGLING's rotary ash cooler account for over 70% market share in China, ranged from 50MW to 600MW CFB unit.

Several types of ash coolers with transferred technology from Europe and US, such as screw coolers and the fluidized type of ash coolers, were installed in China initially. As the frequent failure of those initial designs of ash cooler in this service quickly became apparent, now those coolers are replaced by rotary ash coolers totally.

Solids enter the Rotary barrel from one side and are cooled by spiral and longitudinal fins inside the barrel. The spiral fins lift and convey the solids continuously to the barrel exit. There is no mechanical pushing force on the solids and therefore there is little erosion on the fins and barrel. The solid flow increases with the barrel Rotary speed and decrease to zero when the barrel stops Rotary.
Ash cooling capacity is automatically adjusted by barrel Rotary speed. The Rotary speed is controlled by a variable frequency motor which is DCS-controlled depending on bed pressure.

4. Screw Conveyortop ↑

Songling’s screw conveyor uses a rotating helical screw blade within U-trough, to move ash or other bulk materials and often used horizontally or at a slight incline.

The screw conveyor consists of a trough containing a spiral blade coiled around a shaft, driven at one end and held at the other, or a "shaft less spiral", driven at one end and free at the other.

The sizing of screw conveyor depends on the rate at which it is to be handled and physical characteristics of the material such as particle size and distribution, flow ability, abrasive quality and moisture content etc. The rate of volume transfer is proportional to the rotation rate of the shaft.

 

5. Screw Cooler top ↑

The screw coolers are typically designed to handle boiler ash with a discharge temperature of up to 950℃ and cooling it down to 200℃ or less so it can be transported pneumatically or mechanically to the ash silos.

 

Songling’s screw cooler uses a rotating helical screw blade coiled around a shaft within jacketed U- trough, to move and cool ash and often used at a slight incline. The rate of volume transfer is proportional to the rotation rate of the shaft. The rotation speed is regulated through VFD.

 

There are two types of internal design of screw coolers depending on the ash rate to be handled:

i) Solid flight design: the heat transfer surface is provided by jacketed trough and shaft.

ii) Hollow flight design: the hollow flights allows the cooling medium to flow through the flights for increased heat transfer surface area.

6. Sludge Drying System top ↑

Sewage sludge is primarily derived from waste water which also consists of a variety of other substances. Prior to drying the sludge, free water is removed by mechanical means such as a belt press or frame press to achieve around20~35% dry solids.

Then the sludge passes to the Rotary Dryer for removal of remaining water to achieve around 70% dry solids, by conduction drying whereby the sludge is brought into contact with a heated surface and heat is usually provided by waste heat steam.

The Rotary Sludge Dryer consists of a horizontal drum which rotates around its axis, composed of membrane tubes through which the heating medium flows, and the sludge to be dried is moved through the drum by internal fins.
